Return click on the ‘Simple’ range by Gabriele Pezzini for Max Design. This absolute anti-novelty set came out in 2004 but is still hot news: it has inspired any number of products, is still in the Italian maker’s catalogue, and figures high up in their best seller list. With ‘Wired’, Pezzini proposed a smooth and minimal tube steel application for a stackable indoor/outdoor seat, well before Tom Dixon used the same material again. The spot-welded structure – chrome for indoors, lacquered for out – allows stacking up to 10 units.

Gabriele Pezzini - was born at Charleroi (Belgium) in 1963 - is Italian and above all a designer. His training at ISIA (Higher Institute of Artistic Industries) in Florence in the industrial design department naturally pushed him towards an experimental approach that affects his entire output. His aim has always been to put research at the service of mass production and he very quickly came to France to work for Allibert in 1991 as a product designer, and later design manager in charge of product strategy and brand image. He designed the “Europa” chair in 1994, a chair that took its place with ease in the public areas of the Centre Pompidou.
