Aside from the bevy of Russian models taking to the Paris catwalk, there are another group of Russians drawing the eyes of the Parisian architecture, art/fashion world this season. Louis Vuitton’s latest exhibition is showcasing the works of eleven Moscovites: Alexander Brodsky, Kirill Chelushkin, Valery Chtak, Olga Chernysheva, Alexeï Kallima, Valery Koshlyakov, Oleg Kulik, Pavel Pepperstein, Ksenia Peretrukhina, Stanislav Shuripa, and Iced Architects. Using various mediums, from glass to video projections and frescoes, the artists interpret Moscow’s identity - past, present, and future. Their visions are provocative and often satiric. In one room, Alexander Brodsky creates a river of glass bottles in which syringes, books, and condoms make their way to a fisherman's rod. Oleg Kulik exhibits a spectacular Mongolian yurt, complete with sound effects so realistic one expects to encounter a traveling shaman.
