The School Buildings Organisation of Greece (SBO) in association with the International Union of Architects, through its international Work Programme Architecture and Renewable Energy Sources (UIA-ARES), launches a competition for the design of a European school complex in Voutes, Heraklion, on the island of Crete. This international project competition, open and anonymous, has been approved by the International Union of Architects.
PROGRAMME
This innovative and bioclimatic complex, will serve the needs of the European Network and Information Agency - ENISA, based in Greece since 2005. It should reflect the multi-cultural character of the complex, ensure good quality teaching, use renewable and efficient energy sources, be a state of the art complex.
PARTICIPATION
The competition is open to licensed architects worldwide and multidisciplinary teams led by an architect. The competition language is English. The registration fee is 100 euros.
JURY
The international jury is composed as follows: Elissavet Aplakidou, architect, Greece, representing SBO, Ben Nakamura, architect, Japan, representing UIA; Nikos Fintikakis, representing the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG); Olga Pappa, architect, Greece, representing the Greek Association of Architects; Eleni Mantziou, representing the Greek National Technical University of Athens; Angela Brady, architect, RIBA President; Alastair Blyth representing OECD; Peter Droege, architect, (Australia) and Françoise Hélène Jourda, architect, (France).
PRIZES
The prize pool of 70 000 euros will be shared between the 1st prize (30 000 euros); the 2nd prize (20 000 euros); the 3rd prize (10 000 euros) and two mentions of 5 000 each.
